WILDFLOWERS AND CRITTERS

THE DIVERSITY IN THE CHAPPARAL AND HILL COUNTRY OF SONGBIRDS HAS BEEN AMAZING. BIRDS WITH GREAT NAMES SUCH AS TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE THAT HAD A SONG SO COMPLEX IT WENT FOR 7 MINUTES BEFORE REPEATING THE SEQUENCE-HARD TO GET CLOSE TO THOUGH.SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER,RES-WINGED BLACKBIRD AND BLACK-BELLIEDWHISTLING DUCK-SUCH DESCRIPTIVE NAMES.


I SPENT ALOG TIME ENTHRALLED AS THIS WASP FED THE WAXX TO THE LARVAE IN THE CAPSULES AND THEY THEN SEALED THEMSELVES IN.

HIGH PLAINS ARE COVERED IN THIS YUCCA ALSO KNOWN AS COW CANDY!!THEY LOVE THE FLOWERS.OTHER NAMES INCLUDE SOAPWEED WHICH IS JUST ONE OF MANY USES THE INDIGENOUS HAVE FOR IT
